Dear Readers,
(Warning: This post is mostly just a ramble, though it does have to do with asexuality.)
Did I ever mention that my family can be rather sarcastic and strange at times? Well, if I haven't then take that last question and make it into a statement. I told my wonderful first cousin that I was asexual yesterday. She looked at me like I was crazy before stating that she didn't know to be happy or sad for me. I told her either would do fine.
We continued having a nice conversation until her phone rang, it was her ex-husband calling. She talked with him for a bit before shouting that if he did not behave, she would sic me on him. She did not want to hug me either. Apparently being asexual makes me into a violent weapon, or some sort of infectious disease.
Now I love my cousin to death, but she can really be a moron. I had to explain to her that I was NOT contagious, and that she and her family would be fine. She just brushed it off and our conversation ended, right after she dyed my hair so that it looks almost unnatural.
My family has a history of being homophobic, with me and a few others being an exception, and also has a long history of disease. My family also has a tendency to not talk about things such as sexual orientations, and apparent "problems" in the family, as if not talking about it will make it go away.
This makes me sad to see. When I ask why our family doesn't talk about it, they all go quiet and avoid the subject. I personally love talking about things to try and make things better. But such is life.
Anyway the main point I am trying to make is that Asexuality is not a disease, at least to me its not. I don't see it as a "problem" and just because I am different doesn't make me into a weapon of sorts that can scare away stupid ex-husbands. I am not contagious and I am not a weapon. I am an asexual named Sarah, and if my family thinks that is strange, well there isn't much I can do, now is there?
Sincerly,
Sarah

Lobby Day: Why I feel Mixed when it comes to politics.
Dear Readers,
Tonight's post is not necissarly about asexuality, as sad as that is, but it has some things to do with it.
(Warning: Some names are not mentioned to protect the guilty and innocent.)
I have had the delightful pleasure of traveling a vast expanse of land, to make it to the state capital building, in order to aid the LGBT community in lobbying for equal rights. It was amazing, fun, and a very eye opening experience. During the wonderful time I spent in that area I met some interesting people, as well as spoke to a couple of government cronies... I mean representatives of the people, and speaking with them.
We also got to have a rally out on the lawn of the state capital, where the Governor actually came out and supported us. I almost caught hypothermia due to it being so shockingly cold and I, myself, being under-dressed. It was thanks to Patrick, (from My Super Gay Blog link in the side bar check it out!), who shared his coat with me, that prevented me from freezing to death out there. It was amazing to see so many people gathered together who all want the same thing, it touched my heart. There was singing and speeches and talking and people holding signs, everything was so different than it is in the northern part of the state.
After the rally is when we got to speak to two very different representatives from Minnesota.
The first of the representatives, was a woman whose name sounds like a venerial disease. She was very rude, with an equally rude secretary who more then likely believed us all to be liars, seeing as she insisted on asking all of us individually where we were from. (I was tempted to say mars or some other planet.) I think she was just cross checking our story, making sure we all have it straight. Almost like we were criminals. Though if you think about how members of the LGBT community are treated some would say it is a crime to be who we are. (I consider myself a part of the LGBT community in a way. I do support the equal rights of everyone.)
Which brings me to the meeting with the woman herself. She was rude. We were not allowed in her office, we had to stand outside of the door and speak with her standing up. She sounded ignorant. She claimed to never have heard about the discrimination that LGBT members face from someone other than a LGBT member. Nor has she seen the discrimination for herself. This leads me to think that the reason that she hasn't seen or heard it is because she chooses not to. She knows that it exists but in her little bubble and her cheap efforts to make this world into something that she sees as perfect, she will not acknowledge the pure truth. I at first felt frustrated, as well as kind of shocked, that there is someone whose mind is so shut tight to her own ideals, that she has turned into an ignorant bitch. Though now all I feel is pity for her and her shallow ways.
After that rather sad meeting we got to meet with another representative. He was, for lack of better terms, AWESOME! He was all for LGBT rights and equality. The woman was so extreme against and this guy was so extremely for us. They were like two sides of a coin. the entire group got to take a picture with him and we are gonna put it in the paper. It makes me feel better that thought there are ignorant pricks, there are also people who are so greatly amazing in the ways they go about things.
It is my hope that people who are open-minded lead us in this time, so that everyone can go out and be what they are, no matter who they are, and be accepted. Though there will always be people who hate those who are different, there are those out there that love everyone. That right there just shows how amazing and unique everyone really is, and that right there gives me great hope for the future.
Sincerly,
Sarah

Some Generalizations That I Find Assuming and Offensive.
Dear Readers,
Today as I was surfing the vast sea of the internet I came across a rather, laughable topic about asexuality that I decided needed to be blogged about. A group of people were trying to figure out what made a person become asexual. Also they tried coming up with a stereotype for asexual.
For one thing, I didn't realize that there was enough asexual people to even have a stereotype. Nor that there was a definite cause of asexuality.
Saying that there is any one cause of being asexual is like saying that there is a one cause of being straight or homosexual or bi-sexual or any other orientation that I have neglected to mention. There has been no proven one cause of anything really. Even if we gathered all of the brightest people in the world into one room I dont think we could come up with one true cause. I'm just sayin.
Now as for stereotypes. All of them BLOW! Society just wants us to put people into boxes and try to categorize everything and everyone. In my humble opinion stereotypes need to be destroyed. Everyone has within them their own unique personality and traits. Something that is good for one is not good for others. I say that people who put others into boxes, should be left to their own devices, because they are obviously to naive or ignorant to be taken seriously.
To conclude, people can be really stupid when they try to put things into categories when things are better left unsaid or things better left undone. But then again, just sayin.
Sincerly,
Sarah

How I Managed to Avoid Sex All These Years
Dear Readers,
I'm sorry that I have neglected you all this last week. Life as it stood got rather busy. To make up for the lack of attention, I plan to post quite a bit this week!
Now to the main point of this post: How I avoided Sex in this society.
As I have stated in one of the past posts, this world is full of sex and sexual innuendos. There is a serious amount of pressure for people to be sexually active. Due to this, not having sex is something that is hard to do. Saying a big NO to sex gets harder the more society makes sex acceptable. Those who say no to sex are insulted and made fun of or told that they are strange because they are not whores, or even active in populating this planet.
I have decided that in this post I am going to give you loyal readers some tips on how to avoid sex. Though you may never use these tips, you can at least use them as a way to help children by giving them some nice advice on how to say NO!
Tip 1: Know the pick up lines, and how to respond to them.
Men and women have spent many a night gossiping over the cute members of society that they wish to get with. They devise unique and maybe silly lines to try and attract those members to their side so that they can be with them for a night, or forever. One way to not fall to these charms is to spend a night thinking of many a way to counter their pick ups. Such as:
Charmer: Wanna come home with me?
You: I have aids.
See? That seems effective. Or maybe not. Your choice.
Tip 2: Avoid dressing like a Slut.
There are a lot of clothing company's that try to sell you cloths that make you look like a cheap, or even expensive, hooker. Wearing these clothes draws the eyes of members of the opposite gender, or even same gender, and makes them either drool, or start talking about you. If you wear more conservative clothes, like perhaps a parka, then you should be safe. Unless they are into that kinda thing, then your pretty much screwed.
Tip 3: Have a fake phone number at the ready.
By having a fake phone number available to you, it will allow those pesky persistent people to back off once they think that they have claimed the number of a possible sexual partner. This gets their hopes up, and they go and gloat to the people that they hang around. This makes them happy, and allows you time to make a quick exit, or at least get far enough away so that you need not worry about him or her anymore, or at least for the time being.
Tip 4:Just say that you are already in a committed relationship/ or say that you are waiting for marriage.
Though this part takes a little dedication, if you pull off a good poker face then you shall succeed in either getting rid of them, or getting the attention of someone who is actually worth your time.
Tip 5: Claim that you have a bad case of diarrhea.
No explanation needed.
To conclude this topic, I do think that avoiding sex in today's society, though it is hard, it IS doable. Sex is not needed to survive. Though some like sex, some don't. If you come up with any other ways feel free to share. Otherwise if you follow these tips, you are sure to do well. Think on it.
Sincerly,
Sarah.

Being Asexual in a Sex Filled World
Dear Readers,
Today I decided that I am royally fucked.I dont mean Fucked as in bumping uglies though. I am talking about how; unless I can find another asexual person, perferably male but I wont be picky, or another person who doesnt want to have sex. I will more then likely live alone with 72 cats.
OK, maybe that's an overstatement. I am not fond of cats anyway.
This world is really sexual. There is sex no matter where you look. In magazines, porn, movies, TV shows, books, billboards, on your bedroom wall, not that I would know, and more than likely under teenage beds. This society puts a lot of emphasis on sexual relations. Though parents and the law try to make sex a bad thing, it is something that teens will do. The world as it stands has made it seem that sex is something that can be done with anyone. You don't even need to know the person anymore, all you need is a fresh paycheck.
No matter where you go nowadays, you can see sexual innuendos. Even when you take a few steps outside your door, or look under your kids' beds or even in your significant others' closets or in your own. Type anything that seems innocent into Google and you will get at least four sites advertising sex. Kids are hearing about sex from thier friends and neighbors and some parents try to keep it a secret, which doesnt help.
I think that if we are going to have such a highly sexed community, we should make it so sex isn't something to be done with strangers, but done when there is true love. Heck, even if it is done with a stranger at least show what should be done so that the participants are healthy. Show porn where they guy is wearing a condom. If its a girl than at least show she made the right decisions.
Long story short. Kids are having sex. We can try to stop them but unless they are asexual like me, they are going to do it. At least if we try we can make sure that if they do it, than they are doing it safely and with people they really care about.
Sincerly,
Sarah

Asexual Porn
Dear Readers,
Tonight I thought that I should talk a little bit about quit a few peoples favorite thing.
Porn.
Know I can understand how people could get off on pictures that are based on two people vying for sexual dominance on camera, or on the pages of a comic book. Though personally, I do not enjoy it.
Sex when done, I at least think, should be a private, sacred, and beautiful thing, between two people. It does not matter weather the two are male and female, or male and male, or even female and female. It should simply be an act of love. Fucking for the sake of Fucking is something that I believe is dirty. Now I know that I have not have the full sexual experience, and thus have limited room to talk, but lets be honest.
Fucking for the sake of Fucking is like prostitution. There may not be a monetary exchange, but its goal orientated and not very healthy.
But even the thought of watching two people partake in such a thing just seems to violate the privacy and rights of the people who are on camera. And having pictures taken of it doesnt make much sense since there is no physical pleasure to be had. Unless its those models in those cosmo mags. or something, than those girls are probably just desprite and horny and make enough money to buy hookers.

Masturbation and Sex Dreams
Dear Readers,
As I was calmly talking with a few of my 'sexual' friends, a rather disturbing question came up. I was asked if I have ever had a sex dream.
After a few awkward moments, and a bit of thinking back. I can say to everyone that yes. Yes I have had a dream about a sexual encounter.
....Shocking is it not?
The one thing about this dream was that it was not exciting. For all that the dream made me feel, it could have been like dreaming about doing the dishes. I woke up with a vague sense of, "WTF WAS THAT!?" and then rolled over and went back to sleep. It was not something that I would willing dream about in the future. I kind of wanted to split my head open with a hammer and spill the images out of my freakin skull.
Now while I understand how 'sexual' people enjoy these dreams, and I'm totally cool with that. The looks they gave me were rather priceless. The looks faintly reminded me of fish that were trying to find water again. After explaining AGAIN that I am not a 'sexual' person, they had to ask the inevitable follow up question.
"Well you have masturbated before right?"
.............FUCK NO! Why would I even WANT to touch my own vagina? The thought kinda makes me want to puke all over the person who asked me's face. Ewww.... Just.... EWWWWWWW!!!!
With more weird looks coming my way I thought for a moment that I had stepped into a freak show, as one of the members.
OK PEOPLE! Now I understand that you people have lots of fun touching yourselves and playing where did your penis/vagina go... and that you guys love those dreams were you get naked and do the hanky panky and get that skin-boat to tuna-town but seriously readers.... I do not.
Sincerely,
Sarah
